Ruined By a Power-cut

Yesterday, all my plans and to-do lists were washed away by the power-cut that came in the evening.

I was writing by award-post, my very first award post which Ilona Madam had nominated me, very happy and pleased and grateful, when suddenly came flashes of lightning and thunder and pouring rain. Gone! Gone, was the electric supply. Gone was the draft that I had written with so much time and hard work in the computer.

The power-cut ruined it all

Shota (aka Fluorine) who loves storms as much as I do

But still, I don’t hate the rain. In fact, I absolutely love the storms even if it does bring in lots of destruction and power-cuts. I love the mornings after storm and the pleasant smell of sodden earth and the breezes following and all the freshness it brings. What are your favourite seasons?

  1. The sketch of Fluorine is terrific! Yes the freshness after a storm passes is great. I remember as a young boy I would go and stand out in the rain to see how long it would take to get completely soaked. My Mother would be telling me the whole time to come in out of the rain. I thought it was wonderful letting the rain drops plash off of my face as I looked up at the clouds. Thanks for reminding me of that Great Memory!

    1. Wow Red! That brought back memories of us kids washing the car in the rain. (Not while lightening though!πŸ”₯) We thought that was the coolest thing ever to do with Mom! And don’t laugh, but we would even stand on the doorsteps (we lived in the country) every now and then in our bathing suit and wash with a bar of soap and shampoo for hair. Not that we were dirt poor. It was just like a magical moment for us. Moma life moments special and different for us! Thanks for reminding me of that! πŸ˜„

    2. Oh, Fluorine would be flattered if I show you this comment! Thank you so much!
And I can really relate to you. I and my sister used to dance in the rain too. Thanks for sharing your memories. I really love hearing memories and titbits ❀

      1. I have a mustache and a goatee somewhat salt and pepper colored mostly grey on my chin. I am of Northern European Decent. (Dutch) That’s all I can think of. I am interested to see what you draw from those.. πŸ˜€πŸ€”

      1. I live near Nice in the south of France and yes it does rain a lot in London, though not as much as in Manchester.

  2. That was too bad, losing everything. Don’t forget to save your work as you go along, after every paragraph, that way you won’t lose it all. I like spring and summer the best, but I’m a warm weather person! Interesting, our power went off last evening too due to a thunderstorm. Enjoy your day!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Ί

      1. Great temperature! We can get that warm here too but only for a few days usually. Normal is 27 to 32. I like warm weather. We get 6 months of winter with snow on the ground and it’s just cold. You’re welcome, just remember to hit save regularly, don’t wait for auto save, doesn’t always work.πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Ί

      2. Cold and lots of snow, we can get over 6 feet of snow over the winter. Muffin is an indoor cat, but she still doesn’t like winter, she likes having the windows open and watching all the activity outside in the summer. Kind of dull in the winter for her. So she plays a lot more in the winter.

      3. Never seen snow? You obviously don’t live in Canada! Can I ask what part of the world you live? Yes, I guess seeing snow would be exciting for you, for me, not exciting, just means I have to shovel it out of the way!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ΉWinters are long for us both for sure!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Ί

      4. I do live in the east and I have seen snow on top of high mountains. Once I saw in front of my eyes too, but there was just a little bit. πŸ™‚ Western countries do have much snow, don’t they? What’s your favourite place in Canada?

      5. Canada certainly gets a lot of snow, except on the west coast, they don’t get much snow there, just lots of rain in winter, but they will get a little snow too. I haven’t been in the eastern part of Canada, but I think right here is the most beautiful, just our winters are too long. Of course we do have beautiful mountains out west too. But I prefer our hilly area with all the lakes and rivers.πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜Έ

  3. Very sorry to hear that you lost your writing. I’ve had that happen a couple of times. Once, an entire computer went down, I had to take the hard drive out and recapture all the files. Now, I back up all my projects in the cloud, not once but several times. Since I come from an area that rains a lot, the rain and I have a special relationship. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been raining as much as it should. Take care@@
