The Adventurer’s Guide: Cygnet

This is the most amazing and exciting event in my entire journey through the Den of Dreams: A collaboration with the one and only Elyan White, the awesome author from Phantasmagorium and Lumis. Here is her tale from Lumis, a very interesting place, residing among the stars. And to believe that Tatsuya can tour there!

We both agreed on a set of questions to create a visitor’s guide for passing tourists, so you’re welcome to embark on our adventures with us, if you think you can make the journey.

Elyan White

1. The meaning of your world. Why do you think it was given?

Cygnet. The Child of Swan.

Well, there are hundreds and thousands of name by which people call our planet but perhaps every name translates more or less into “Swan Child”. Here is a common legend about the origin that one day, on 36 Summer, Year of Turquoise Dragon (in Earth calender, 26 June 2019) I heard.

2. How did your world start?

Legends vary place to place, and from people to people. Here are a few theories I collected from my school friends of Cygnet:

Haruo: With fire of course, man.

Rin: Hmm, certainly not something I’d know! Why don’t ye go an’ check the origin stories, eh?

Edaeda: Oceans, rivers, seas and water.

3. What are the major communities?

There are three major communities in Cygnet, each with its own history, myth, culture, food, drinks and languages. There are other tribes of course, and so are other sub groups.

  • Ykeadjnn: (pronounced ki-a-jin) They are the natives of the planet and cover about 70 percent of the population. Golden haired, big eyed, they live by the coasts, worship water, moon, and lord Yakae.
  • Euclonic (pronounced Eu-klo-nik) They are present around 19 per cent of the population. Highly technical, adaptive, diplomatic, they live in very cold areas where snow never melts. They can speak an Earth language: English.
  • Zkyeatto (pronounced za-ki-e-to) They are present around 7 percent of the population, and are often conflicting with Ykeadjnn. Dark eyed, shrouded in mysteries and legends, they live by the hills, worship nature, sun, and the fire. Two sub-groups include the creative, emotional Quya (pronounced Ku-ya) and the fiery and galiant Ywaya (pronounced ya-ya). {I am a Quya Zkyeatto, by the way 😉 }

4. One line to describe your world?

Anything and everything is possible.

5. Your favourite place to tour in your world?

Many, many, many! I love touring in the medieval ages of Mhokaizi (pronounced Ho-kai-zi) empires, Whatou (pronounced Wa-ha-to) and Tuorin empires, and playing around our school in Linnet Town. Warrior’s Land, where Quya Zkyeatto people go after death is an interesting place too… 😉

Well, our journey is not over yet, there continues our path to Cygnet…

A big thank you to everyone reading and joining us! ❤

Thank you so much Crimson for hosting this challenge.

The Forgotten Trail

~ a verse by Tatsuya

Hiking forth, I stumbled upon

A thin trail, left alone,

Twigs and weeds, grown all around

That scratch and I frown,

At the edgy ground,

Until I see a flight of stairs.

Small stairs, Stones stairs.

Who knows they lead to where,

And yet, to the unknown, I follow.

Dark and creepy, the stairs went,

To a place I never knew or came upon,

Fantastic beasts I met,

Fantastic places, a purple sun

And blue grass, and roaming stouts

I had come upon a land of great adventure,

But alas, I did not know a way out!

Chap 1: A Voice From The Sky

It was an ordinary cloudy day when you and your friend decided to go for a walk in the nearby woods. (1)
“What’s the name of this place?” you ask your friend. (2 and 3)
“Don’t know, your name. This place is sort of mysterious… Creepy and eerie you can say.” He/she replies with a cheesy grin, “Are you scared?” (4)
You don’t reply but walk on, crippling twigs beneath your foot and admiring the odd shapes and structures of the trees.
“Hey, your friends’ name, this forest is quite interesting, isn’t it? Just look at the purple pebbles… And the scarlet weeds… Aren’t they odd? What do you think? Your friends’ name? Where are you?” you call out suddenly… to realise he/she is not there beside you. (5)
By now, you had come quite deep inside the woods and the sky looked it would rain soon.
You desperately call your friends’ name but it was like he/she had completely disappeared.
“Beware…” a loud voice bellowed from the sky, “You have entered the Woods of Wonder. You have stepped in great danger and your fate will be decided by you alone.”
You gaze at the sky. There was a hole in the clouds, peeping sunlight. Your friend was still not here and the wind was turning hostile… Maybe a storm was near.
