Secret Behind A Timepiece

Both of us stopped at the dead-end of the road.

“Who’s put up this stupid sign here, eh?” asked Joe.

“End of Century, huh?” I read the odd sign post, “Maybe there’s a time machine behind.”

“You and your stupid sci-fi stuff!” said Joe putting his hands on his hips, “Perhaps a geek like you has set this up!”

“Whatever,” I said, “It’s silly and odd.”

“Geez! Just the thing you’re expecting after a long afternoon walk! Curse that man who has put this up!” Joe spat on the ground and checked his watch, “Goodness! It’s already 4 pm and the movie starts at 6! Now where do we go, eh? Jos? A guess?”

“It’s just 3:46 pm. Your watch’s fast.”

“Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Both of you are wrong! It’s 15 hours 46 minutes and 32 seconds now!”

It was a high, wavering shrill voice, much like hitting hammer in a metal can. It came from the signpost.

I and Joe exchanged a glance.

“Somebody has fit some kind of recorder here,” I said, “Maybe a prankster like you, Joe.”

“You really think so?” he said, sounding impressed. “Let’s check it out!”

He grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the backside of the sign post. It was all very ordinary… except a clock sitting right on top with googly eyes.

“What’s that? A silly clock” I asked.

“Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!” it started but Joe interrupted.

“You are wrong, Mr. Clock! It should be dong, dong, dong!”

“I am not a clock!” said the clock (or so I think it is), “I am a great marvellous Time-Porter from the 22nd century.”

I let out a small chuckle and said to Joe, “A neat hologram with a perfect sound recorder. Nice work, I say.”

“Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!” It shouted again, sounding seemingly angry. “I’ll show you what I can do!”

For a few seconds, there was an eerie, uncanny silence. And then came the ticking of clocks, growing louder and louder every passing moment.

Suddenly came a noise of the blast of glass. Joe’s and my watches had broken. The whole sky echoed of ticking, as if it were thunder. It was all deafeningly loud. We closed our eyes and pressed our ears as hard as we could.

“STOP IT!” Joe yelled at last.

And somebody or something who was in charge of all this drama heard it. All the noises came to an end.

I dropped on my knees… and slowly opened my eyes.

“What… was this?” I stammered, though I doubt anybody would have heard that. Shock had taken my voice away.

In front of me were odd metallic dome shaped buildings with buzzing drones in the air. Not a tree, not a breath of life. Just metal and metal everywhere.

“I’ve moved forward in time,” said the Time-Porter, “We have to the end of the century.”

A Voyage To Unknown

I walked alone on the deserted port,

I missed your voice and laughs beside my side;

In and out came the tides,

Sweeping in memories.

You are gone, I don’t know where;

You have taken half the sphere,

that I call ‘My world’.

I remember all those rubbish theories

You told about love.

It’s not there, I tell myself, it never had been.

The sea water gleams,

By sunlight beside the ship.

I must go, I tell myself,

to a voyage far away,

to a voyage to unknown.

Birthday of a Beloved One

July has already started and today, by far, is the best day of the month. Why?

Everything is special because this 2nd July 2019 marks the 11th birthday of my beloved younger sister!

Happy Birthday, dear Sister!

Yesterday night, I spend quite a lot of time, trying to make a card, a few open when letters and decorating the cover-page of a notebook. Yet, they weren’t a bit good as I expected… 😦

Just a wish… Happy birthday!

But you don’t always need high-and-mighty cards to express your love. Whatever I did, it made her smile and that’s what matters.

This a little unsent letter I’d written for her:

Dear sister,

You are just eleven but mature enough to read my heart. You are the only one to whom I can confide. Yes, there are secrets I can’t tell you, but don’t worry, when you grow up we could be even closer. You are the best friend I have. Just your sight brings a big smile to my face. We may quarrel and fight with each other often, but there’s always a string of love binding us. Thanks for coming in my life! Happy birthday, my love!

Yours loving,

Elder sister

30th June, 2019

Dear Diary,

Very disappointed today. Couldn’t go to the city because of extra-homework. Parents went, but the stationary shop was closed. Last week this happened too. 😦

Now the homework is not complete even! I’m quite sad. On Tuesday, we will go out somewhere because today my parents had to go to work because of emergency.

The woods are looking very fresh, by the way. Maybe it’s the rain. There weren’t any landslides. A few pine trees have fallen down, though.

By the way, I found an odd turquoise coloured feather. I like collecting feathers! Maybe it belongs to a magical bird!

A bit tensed about today’s world cup match, IND VS ENG. I wish England would win! Can’t wait to see Butler, Morgan, Root, Roy, Stokes and many more.

Maybe something interesting will happen today evening! I hope so.

Cheers,

Goodbye,

Kain

Myself A to Z… continuation

Again I am back with facts about myself! Let’s start right away from where I left… https://verbalcreation.home.blog/2019/06/29/myself-a-to-z/

F is for Fantasy and Family.

By now, you must be guessing that I love the genre fantasy so much! Yes, I truly love all the magical worlds they build, all the magical races and food and people and languages and… everything! But dragons and quests are the very basics of Fantasy for me and I can’t believe that it could be fantasy without them.

And my family is really everything to me! There are 4 people in my family, the two most extra-ordinary parents and a beloved younger sister. They are my life and I can’t live without them! ❤

G is for Goals and Gratitude

Well, I really love to set goals for myself and most of the time, I don’t fulfill them… My greatest goal is to become a children’s author and I’m trying my best to work towards it…J

And I place gratitude very high in my moral list. Totally agree with Samuel Johnson’s, ‘Gratitude is the fruit of great cultivation’. I try to express my gratitude to every person in my life but as an introvert, I am not very fine in expressing my heart-felt emotions. So, dear reader, let me say you a BIG thank you for reading this!

H is for History and Hand-written

History is no wonder my favourite subject, after literature. It’s such a great time-traveller and helps me visit nooks and crannies of bygone eras. Among all periods of history, my favourite time is the medieval age with all emperors, castles and dungeons.

And I love everything hand-written! Even a small hand-written letter can cheer my mood in gloomiest times and I prefer to keep my notes and diary entries all hand-written since they do bring back nostalgic memories

I is Imagination and Introvert

Here I can proudly say, I have a vast ocean of imagination (sorry, if I’m bragging but I really pride on my imagination). I love dwelling among caves and dens and huts and castles of my imaginary world. But this day-dreaming does get me trouble sometimes too because I can’t focus on studies and school. 🙂

And by now, since I’ve told it about a million times, everybody perhaps knows that I’m an introvert. Well, I don’t like being in crowds, I don’t like those useless, boring chit-chats and I don’t like those “overly-social” gatherings. But I love to write and connect to as many people I can with similar interest…

J is for Journal and Journeys

My dear journal is my best friend in this whole wide world. I share my every feelings, every emotions to it as if it were a human. Till now, I’ve completed 6 journals and writing 7th one now. Do you keep a journal too? I do love reading all sorts of diaries and journals.

And I love all sorts of journeys too! Be it a short hike in the woods or a long trek in the mountains, I love it all. I like keeping an account of my journeys too in my travel journal and reading other people’s amazing adventures.

(Maybe tomorrow, I’ll tell you about myself from K to O J )

Goodbye and have a great day! Hoping to hear from you too! 🙂

29th June 2019

Dear Diary,

Today is quite cold. Stormed a bit in the evening. Hope we aren’t going to get landslides in this valley. I hope the roads don’t block off.

Tomorrow is Sunday. It’s my favourite day, you know. All our week’s shopping depends on this day. There are no shops in our valley, except a few farmhouses (they aren’t proper shops either). Every Sunday, we go to the nearest town to buy things, you know. Tomorrow, I’ll buy myself a few little notebooks and pens. I love making bullet journals!

By the way, today I saw a RaashiKen. Do you know what it is? It’s a large beast that looks like mountain of clouds. Very large but really kind. Father was out in the storm and RaashiKen saved him. In return, I made him a wood-carved statue of him. He seemed so happy! I hope to see him again.

Till then,

Good night,

Kain

Changes Left Unchanged

Thank you, Karen and Josh for the What Pegman Saw challenge. Thank you for taking us to a different part of the world every time!  This week we’re there in Cardenas, Cuba.

Changes Left Unchanged

For most people, Stone Castle was just a stone castle as the name suggested.

But for me, it was more reverend than Jerusalem itself.

It had been almost nine decades since I’ve been staying there. I’ve seen the seas change, the trees change, the houses growing and the animals going.

I’ve seen myself change with time too. My youthful face is now scared and lined and my back is now hunched and my silver beard sweeps the ground.

But one thing has remained unchanged, untouched and unshaken. The hole on the wall from where the pirates once passed and from where the great reverend dragons, my ancestors came to light up this castle.

Myself, A to Z

Recently, I’ve been following an amazing blogger, Tatterhood, and got inspired by her to write a bit about myself.

A picture I drew…

Here everything about me, from A to Z…

A is for Anime and Aliases

I am really a big otaku, and Dororo and Naruto are my absolute favourites. I am really fond of Tahomaru from Dororo (2019) and Akatsuki from Naruto.

I also love to be shrouded in mysteries and maybe that’s why I choose so many aliases and false-names. Dragon Warrior is certainly one of my favourite one J

B is for Books and Beasts

I am an avid reader and love reading all sorts of books. Well, I confess, I still love to read good children’s book, especially quests.

And about beasts… well, I love each and every beast on earth. Be it good or bad, tame or wild. And I love mythical beasts too, especially, dragons and phoenix and selkies and will-o-wisps.

C is for Crickets and Chocolates.

These are certainly two things I’m greatly addicted to.

I watch cricket almost daily, especially, when World Cup2019 is going on. I am supporting Australia, New Zealand and England. My favourite players are Pat Cummins and Alex Carey and Jos Butler and Eoin Morgan.

And about chocolates… well, I’ll be happy to eat one every day! Cadbury is my favourite brand and I prefer milk chocolate over milk chocolate.

D is for Dreamer and Dragons

I guess, this is the one you can understand very easily from my title J I really love to dream both at night and day, and follow my mind its bizarre travels.

And I’ve got a bunch of imaginary dragons… My favourite one is a big, copper coloured guy, who can shapeshift into human. He’s called Drake and is the leader of the Dragon Tribe.

E is for Emails and Environment

I really love to check my emails and do that every fifteen minutes when at home.J My mailbox is filled mostly with the amazing updates of my blog and reader’s lists.

And since I truly love our environment and would go to any limit to protect it. I truly believe this world is not only for us, but also for all the other plant and animal friends. We all must save Mother Environment!

(Maybe tomorrow, I’ll tell you about myself from F to J…J)

A Letter For You

Dear Reader,

I love getting to know many people and I shall greatly delighted to know more about you! Let’s all write a posts featuring ‘A to Z about myself’ and maybe you could share the links in the comments so that we all can have a peek in it! J

Thank You,

Dragon Warrior

A Drink For Surprises

I stared at the flashing sign with shock.

“Hey, Jase, close your mouth, if you don’t want to have a dish of mosquitoes.” Said Ben.

“What’s with the sign there?” I asked, trying to eat my chicken pie.

Ben followed my gaze towards the bright, flashy sign, saying “Eat More Beer”

Ben took a bite and said casually, “They don’t bother about grammar here, my nerdy boy. It’d be ‘drink more beer’, we all know that.”

“Not that,” I said, “Isn’t it totally unbelievable? To see a sign claiming eat more beer in a restaurant named ‘Teetotaller monkey’?”

“Calm down, boy! I get your point.” Ben patted on my back. “Let’s check out the mystery.”

I called the waiter and ordered a drink.

Five minutes later, the waiter arrived with a glass of fizzy drink, oddly pink in colour.

It smelled quite odd too, like a strawberry fondue.

I raised my eyebrows and cautiously watched Ben take a sip of that drink… But what I saw made me more shocked than ever.

Odd scars and patterns grew all around Ben’s faces and tattooed arms.

“Benjamin!” I cried, but strangely no fellow diner, not even the one sitting next table turned at us.

Ben didn’t seem to hear me either. He resumed to drink as if the whole world had paused.

“There’s something in the drink, I say!” I shouted, shaking Ben by his arms, “Ben?! Do you hear me?!”

Caught in a frenzy, I grabbed the drink and gulped it down.

“What a fool am I!” I thought to myself as my vision became blurry.

Slowly as if fogged by a pinkish mist, my eyes dragged and closed and as if… I drifted off to a distant place.

“Jason?! Jason!”

“Uhh?” I struggled to force my eyes open. “W-Where am I?”

I looked around cautiously around myself. There was nothing I could remember. Everywhere where strange pinkish octopus like folks.

“Is this some kind of sci-fi movie set? Where is Ben? Ben?” I cried, nervousness leaking in my voice.

“Calm down, Jason, I’m right here beside you.” Said a voice that I instantly recognized.

I turned towards it and what a shock did I get! There a tall, thick octopus-like creature wearing the same shirt like Ben.

“Is that really…you?” I stammered, my voice a barely audible croak.

The creature nodded and said, “Look at yourself, Jase.”
Fearfully, I turned my gaze towards the glass table… And met the horror I had been fearing.

I had turned into such a creature too. A monster like the rest of them.

“Look at the sign,” said Ben, “The beer they asked you to drink was a potion that turns you into one of them. We’ve already fallen in the trap, Jason. So dear, let’s eat more beer!”

Diary Of Kain

Let me tell you, I have got a big bunch of imaginary friends living in an imaginary world. One of them, Kain, a blue-haired guy who’s a dreamer like me has just started a diary. I really hope you enjoy it! 🙂

A Brief Start

29th June 2019

Dear Diary,

You know, writing to you is quite a strange experience. Writing to a big, fat notebook is really odd. Especially when you are usually a real shy guy, bit of a muddle-head and not really confident about your way of writing… And moreover… I’m quite sure nobody would be a bit interested in the random musings of a petty nature-loving, all day-dreaming little boy.

But well, I’ll be a little selfish here. I’m a bit lonely and really want someone to stay beside me. So, dear diary, could you be that someone?

Myself, as I drew

But well, I’ll be a little selfish here. I’m a bit lonely and really want someone to stay beside me. So, dear diary, could you be that someone?

Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am Kain, a 14 year boy who lives in a quiet, sleepy valley. My life’s quite simple, you see, just 5 meals a day, at least a dozen dishes of meat, school, wood-carvings and long wanderings in the woods.

I’ve got a little family. Mother, Father and me. Both of them are wood-carvers and I want to be one too.

Father is my best friend, but since he’s a bit older than me and stays away most of time, I can’t really share everything with him.

Well, this was just the introduction. Let’s get into crazier things…

Would you believe if I tell you I’ve seen a dragon? Or that I’ve found a feather of phoenix? Or that I absolutely love writing? Or I’ve wandered into Forbidden Forests?

Well, most peoples never do believe me, you know. So I hope you don’t mind me spoiling you with this “discoveries” and random musings. 🙂

Cheers,

Yours truly,

Kain.
